52 Faculty Members from 12 Institutions Complete Six-Day program
Hyderabad, August 22: A six-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Drone-Based Multi-Sensor Remote Sensing and AI for Geospatial and Environmental Applications” concluded at Vasavi College of Engineering (VCE), Hyderabad, on Saturday.
Organised by the Department of Information Technology from August 17 to 22 under the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy, the programme was sponsored by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The FDP provided participants with practical exposure to emerging technologies including drone-based remote sensing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), LiDAR, multispectral and hyperspectral imaging and geospatial applications.
Experts from ISRO, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), NRSC, Pixxel, Microsoft and X Dimension Robotics Pvt. Ltd. participated in the technical sessions and practical training.
The programme covered applications of drone-based multi-sensor remote sensing in urban mapping, crop monitoring, forest analysis, biomass estimation, mining, disaster management and environmental monitoring. Hands-on sessions included LiDAR-based biomass mapping, Python-based machine learning and deep learning, QGIS-based analysis of remote-sensing datasets and UAV path planning for 3-D reconstruction.
52 Participants from 12 Institutions
Speaking at the valedictory session, Dr. S. V. Ramana, Principal, Vasavi College of Engineering, appreciated the efforts of FDP coordinators Dr. K. Ram Mohan Rao and Dr. T. Hitendra Sarma, along with the faculty and staff of the Department of Information Technology.
