Fill Librarian Posts Immediately..! Unemployed Library Science Graduates Demand Statewide Recruitment
Editor Desk
Hyderabad, July 18: Unemployed candidates who have completed Library and Information Science (LIS) demanded that the Telangana government immediately fill vacant Librarian posts in educational institutions, public libraries, and various government departments across the state. The demand was raised during the Yuva Sangrama Sabha organized by the BRS Party at Saroornagar, Hyderabad, where a large number of LIS graduates participated.
The candidates urged the government to include Librarian posts in the upcoming DSC recruitment and fill all vacancies in public libraries and government departments. They stated that nearly 8,000 Librarian posts remain vacant across various departments and should be filled without further delay.
They also demanded that 90% of appointments in medical colleges and public libraries be made through direct recruitment, while the remaining 10% should be filled through promotions. The government was urged to issue a special Government Order (GO) making Librarian posts mandatory in all government and private schools across Telangana.
The protesters pointed out that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, along with the education policies of 1986 and 1992, clearly emphasizes that every educational institution should have a library managed by a qualified librarian. They also called for the implementation of the Telangana Education Commission–2026 recommendations by establishing libraries and appointing librarians in every educational institution.
The unemployed graduates further demanded the creation of Librarian posts in medical, law, pharmacy, ITI, B.Ed., special education, intermediate, and degree colleges. They said that filling these vacancies would provide employment opportunities to thousands of qualified Library Science graduates while ensuring quality library services for students across the state.
The protest was attended by A. Shailu, M. Manjula, K. Suman, Sai Charan, B. Raghuvaran, Malathi, Radhakrishna, and several other unemployed Library Science graduates, who appealed to the government to act without delay.
